Studying Experience

Like with all exams I take, I draw up a rough study plan and a timeline in which I wish to cover all the topics that I need to in order to be ready for the exam. I tend to take a day or to amalgamate a list of useful documents, videos, blogs and mock exam questions and these will then form part of my study plan. The majority of my studying will take place in the evening after work and family time has finished for approx 1.5-2 hours each night.

The Tricentis Academy (online training) course consists of three integrated training modules. These training modules are different in scope and length and are designed to be taken successively in a specified order to build up your knowledge of HTML cross browser test automation. In total, there are seventeen lessons for you to complete.

Study Plan | Timeline – 1 Week

  1. DAY 1 – Review Exam Guide.
  2. DAY 2 to 7 – Work through each of the 17 online lessons. Each lesson contains a lesson video and one or more exercises. These exercises are extremely helpful when trying to pass the final exam and it is recommended you take your time and work through them.
  3. DAY 8 – Sit Online Exam.

Exam Day

I always aim to take my exams online as I find that these immediately removes any additional nerves/stress from travelling to and from a Test Centre and allows for maximum amount of time to study on exam day. The exam for the Tricentis Tosca – Automation Specialist Level 1 is online so no decisions to make there!!

I always try to take my exams when I know that there will be no distractions and make sure that I am fully prepared in advanced of the exam.

Post Exam Review

I felt fairly confident with this exam, as I had taken the time to fully understand the lessons that were provided and had generally scored well on each of the end of section assessments without too much trouble (you must pass the assessments in order to progress to the next section).

Although as expected there were still a number of questions that I was quite unsure on and although I took my time to run through the questions fully there is always that point where you are just unable to do anymore and you are left with hitting the submit button. I wouldn’t describe the exam as a toughest out there, but you do need to have put the effort in before hand as questions are very specific to the tool itself. I am very happy that I passed the exam and am now a Tricentis Automation Specialist Level 1

I think anyone who is currently using the Tricentis Product Suite or planning to implement this within their company and / or has an interest in Test Automation tools should look to take this course and exam.
